Parking art

Parkeringkonst is a physical embodiment of Nya nya Norrland's ongoing investigation of resource extraction in northern Sweden. The structure has the same dimensions as the Tesla electric car and functions as a platform that supports sculptures. At Svanö Folkets hus, the installation takes the form of a sculpture park inspired by Svanö's industrial, cultural and natural history. The sculpture contains both collage and material from the New New Norrland project, cut branches from the island, leftover scrap and found objects that have been modulated and mixed together.

In mobile and collective learning, the project has constantly developed and expanded on its journey through what is usually called Norrland. Dialogues and exchanges of ideas are central to Nya nya Norrland, which always wants to put play and experimentation at the forefront. At the heart of the installation is a renegotiation of northern Sweden's historical and future role for society, industry and the big men. The art of parking will in the future roll on to other situations and thus function as both a playground and a social platform for different groups to reflect on their surroundings.
